Official biography
Attorney General William P. Barr appointed Maria T. Ubarri as an Immigration Judge in December 2020. Judge Ubarri ear ned a Bachelor of Arts in 1988 from Boston University, a Juris Doctor in 1991 from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, and a Master of Laws in 1994from Georgetown University Law Center. From 2010 to 2020, she served as a state trial court judge, in Fajardo and Humacao, Puerto Rico. From 1995 to 2010, she was in private practice, in Humacao and San Juan, Puerto Rico. From 1994 to 1995, she served as a federal policy advisor for the Governor of Puerto Rico. In 1993, she served as a legislative assistant for the Honorable Carlos A. Romero-Barcelo, Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico, U.S. House of Representatives. Judge Ubarri is a member of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Bar.
