Then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions appointed Mark S. Evans to begin hearing cases in November 2018. Judge Evans earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1982 from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Juris Doctor in 1987 from the University of Houston Law Center. From 1997 to2018, he served as an assistant chief counsel, senior attorney, and deputy chief counsel with the Office of the Chief Counsel, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security, in Houston. From 1996 to 1997, he served as assistant district attorney with the Fort Bend County District Attorney's Office in Richmond, Texas. From 1994 to 1996, he was an attorney in private practice, in Houston. From 1991 to 1994, he was an attorney with Driscolland Lacey, in Houston. From 1987 to 1991, he served as an assistant district attorney with the Harris County District Attorney's Office, in Houston. Judge Evans is a member of the State Barof Texas.
