Jacob J. Stender was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in May 2023. Judge Stender ear ned a Bachelor of Arts in 2002 from Western Washington University and a Juris Doctor in 2012 from the Seattle University School of Law. From 2020 to 2023, he served as a lead administrative law judge, and from 2017 to 2020, as an administrative law judge, for the Washington State Office of Administrative Hearings. From 2013 to 2017, he served as a district court commissioner for the District Court of Maryland. Judge Stender is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and the Maryland State Bar.
