I-94 Arrival/Departure Record
The record of a nonimmigrant's admission - the class of admission and the date status expires. It is now created electronically at almost every port of entry rather than stapled into a passport. It is the document that proves lawful status to an employer, a school, or a state DMV, and the 'admit until' date on it, not the visa expiry date, is what governs how long the person may stay.

Qué cambió en 2025 y 2026
- Land border travellers now get electronic I-94s and should apply in advance through the website or the CBP Link app; Visa Waiver Program travellers need an approved ESTA before arriving at a land border. I-94 numbers have been alphanumeric since May 2019. A departure by land after an electronic admission may not be recorded, so keep independent evidence of leaving.
