Michelle L. Lakomy was appointed as an Immigration Judge to begin hearing cases in October 2022. Judge Lakomy ear ned a Bachelor of Science in 1994 from Rutgers College and a Juris Doctor in 1997 from Rutgers School of Law-Newark. From 2018 to 2022, she served as Resident Legal Advisor at the Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training (OPDAT), Department of Justice, at the U.S. Embassy in Tirana, Albania, and from 2012 to 2018, she served as Resident Legal Advisor at the OPDAT office at the U.S. Embassy in Pristina, Kosovo. From 2011 to 2012, she served as Civil Response Corps International Rule of Law Advisor at the OPDAT office in Washington, D.C. From 1999 to 2011, she served as an assistant prosecutor at the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office in Jersey City, New Jersey. From 1997 to 1999, she was an associate attorney at Shea & Novy, Attorneys-at-Law. Judge Lakomy is a member of the New Jersey State Bar and the New York State Bar.
