Matthew C. Chan was appointed as an Immigration Judge to begin hearing cases in December 2021. Judge Chan ear ned a Bachelor of Arts in 2008 from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a Juris Doctor in 2011 from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. From 2011 to 2021, he served as an Assistant Chief Counsel (ACC), Office of the Chief Counsel, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security, in Los Angeles. While an ACC, from 2019 to 2021, he served as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, in Los Angeles. Judge Chan is a member of the State Bar of California and the Illinois State Bar.
