Attorney General William P. Barr appointed Lakshmi Srinivasan Herman as an immigration judge in March 2020. Judge Herman ear ned a Bachelor of Arts in 1992 from Pacific Universityand a Juris Doctor in 2000 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. From 2008 to 2020,she served as an assistant U.S. attorney at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey, in Newark, New Jersey. From 2005 to 2008, she was a litigation associate with Dechert LLP, in New York. From 2000 to 2005, she was a litigation associate with Shearman & Sterling LLP, in New York. Judge Herman is a member of the New Jersey State Bar and New York State Bar.
