I-751 Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence
Removes the two-year condition from a green card obtained through a marriage that was less than two years old at approval. It is normally filed jointly by both spouses in the 90 days before the card expires. A person whose marriage ended, or who was abused, can file alone with a waiver of the joint filing requirement.

What changed in 2025 and 2026
- USCIS extends the green card by 48 months on the receipt notice, because the median has been over 20 months since FY 2023. Filing late is survivable with a good written explanation, but conditional status ends on the expiry date and residence becomes unlawful in the meantime.
