Former Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch appointed Matthew E. Morrissey to begin hearing cases in April 2017. Judge Morrissey ear ned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2001 from Saint Louis University and a Juris Doctor in 2004 from the Creighton University School of Law. From 2008 to March 2017, he served as an assistant chief counsel for the Office of Chief Counsel, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security, in Omaha, Neb. From January 2004 to 2008, he was an associate attorney with Chandra Law Office. Judge Morrissey is a member of the Nebraska State Bar and the Missouri Bar.
