Attorney General Jeff Sessions appointed Abby L. Meyer to begin hearing cases in October 2018. Judge Meyer ear ned a Bachelor of Arts in 2004 from Simpson College and a Juris Doctorin 2007 from the University of Nebraska College of Law. From 2010 to 2018, she served as an assistant chief counsel for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), in Atlanta and in Omaha, Nebraska. From 2007 to 2010, she was an immigration services officer for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, DHS, in Fairfax,Virginia. Judge Meyer is a member of the Virginia State Bar.
