I-192 Application for Advance Permission to Enter as a Nonimmigrant

Asks for permission to enter the United States as a nonimmigrant despite being inadmissible. It is the standard waiver for T and U applicants, for people who need a border waiver, and for others who cannot get a visa or admission without forgiveness of a past ground. CBP decides it at a port of entry in some cases and USCIS decides it in others.

What changed in 2025 and 2026

For U and T applicants the I-192 is decided together with the underlying petition and is free of the usual discretionary hostility, but processing tracks the very long U and T queues.
