USCIS processing times

USCIS publishes, for each form, case type and office, the time within which 80% of recently completed cases were decided. It once published a range with a median; since 2022 there is one headline figure, and a slower one behind the scenes (roughly the 93rd percentile) that sets the date after which you may file a case inquiry. So a figure of 12 months means four cases in five finished inside a year and one in five took longer. The figures are refreshed monthly and describe the recent past, not your file: a case with a request for evidence, a missed biometrics appointment or a background check runs on its own clock.
