Jason Jones

Jason L. Jones was appointed as an Immigration Judge to begin hearing cases in February 2023. Judge Jones ear ned a Bachelor of Arts in 1995 and a Master of Arts in 1996, both from Old Dominion University, a Juris Doctor in 2001 from Oklahoma City University School of Law, and Master of Laws in Trial Advocacy in 2013 from Temple University School of Law. From 2021 to 2022, he served at the Department of the Navy as complex case counsel- prosecution, and from 2018 to 2021, he served as the Navy's director, Trial Counsel Assistance Program. From 2016 to 2018, he served as a military judge in the Southeast Judicial Circuit, Mayport, Florida. From 2002 to 2004, 2008 to 2010, and 2013 to 2016, he served as a military defense counsel at Naval Station San Diego, California; Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida; and Naval Station Bremerton, Washington. From 2004 to 2006, he served as assistant staff judge advocate at Naval Criminal Investigative Service Headquarters in Washington, D.C. From 2006 to 2007, and from 2010 to 2012, he served as the senior trial counsel at Legal Services Support Team Iraq, 1st Marine Logistics Group, Al-Anbar Province, Iraq, and at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida. From 2007 to 2008, he served as an appellate law clerk at the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals. From 2012 to 2013, while in the Navy, he served as a special assistant U.S. attorney at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Judge Jones is a member of the State Bar of California and the District of Columbia Bar.
