Erica R. Hughes was appointed as an Immigration Judge to begin hearing cases in December 2021. Judge Hughes ear ned a Bachelor of Science in 2003 from Prairie View A&M University and a Juris Doctor in 2006 from Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law. From 2019 to 2021, she served as Presiding Judge of Harris County Criminal Court at Law #3 and Harris County Veterans Treatment Court, in Houston. From 2007 to 2018, she served as Managing Partner of The Hughes Firm PLLC, in Houston. Since 2016, she has also served as a Judge Advocate with the U.S. Army National Guard of Texas, in Austin. Judge Hughes is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
