I-485J Confirmation of Valid Job Offer or Request for Job Portability Under INA Section 204(j)
Confirms that an employment-based green card applicant still has a valid job offer, or that they have moved to a same-or-similar job under AC21 portability. It is filed when an I-485 has been pending 180 days or more and the worker changes employers, or when USCIS asks for confirmation.

What changed in 2025 and 2026
- The 180-day portability rule under AC21 is what makes this useful; without 180 days of a pending I-485 the worker cannot port.
